TEXT
"Samson"
Jeffrey Cobb
You read about Samson, from his birth, he was the strongest man that ever lived on earth.
Now Samson had a grudge with the Philistines for enslaving his people and treating him mean.
They sent up an army three thousand strong, to capture poor Samson, and bring him along.
They tied him in chains, and as they headed for home, Samson looked on the ground and he saw a jawbone.
When he reached out his arm, his chains broke like a thread, and when he got to moving, three thousand was dead.
Samson, was a man, doing God's work across the land.
Samson, strong and lean, bringing God's justice to the Philistines.
Samson, brave and true, acting as judge and jury too.
Samson used a jawbone to send three thousand to their heavenly home.
Well, Delilah was a woman, she was fine and fair, she had good looks and coal black hair.
Delilah she climbed up on Samson's knee and said: "Tell me where your strength lies if you please."
Now she spoke so kind, and talked so fair, til Samson said: "Cut offa my hair!
You can shave my head as clean as my hand, and my strength will become as a natural man."
Samson, was a man, doing God's work across the land.
Samson, strong and lean, bringing God's justice to the Philistines.
Samson, brave and true, acting as judge and jury too.
Samson was the man, taken by a woman with a secret plan.
With Samson's head shaved, you know his strength did leave, and Samson was captured by his enemies.
They put out his eyes, and they bound him in chains, then locked him 'tween the pillars in the temple main.
Then Samson prayed to God for his strength to be returned.
"Give me one more chance, for your trust to earn."
Well, he pushed on those pillars with all of his might, and the walls came down with a terrible fright!
Samson, was a man, doing God's work across the land.
Samson, strong and lean, bringing God's justice to the Philistines.
Samson, brave and true, acting as judge and jury too. Samson, his strength was found,
and the walls of the temple, came a tumbaling down!
