TEXT
Text Adapted from "Historia regum Brittaniea, Book VII"
Geoffrey of Monmouth (c. 1100-1155)
Splendor Solis electro Mercurii languebit,
et erit horror inspicientibus.
The brilliance of the Sun shall be dimmed by Mercury's amber glow,
and there shall be horror amongst those who witness it.
Vocabit Venerem galea Martis.
The helmet of Mars shall call for Venus.
Galea Martis umbram conficiet.
The helmet of Mars shall cast a shadow.
Nudabit ensem Orion ferreus.
Iron Orion shall unsheathe his sword.
Vexabit nubes Phoebus aequoreus.
The Moon of the sea shall torment the clouds.
Transibit terminos furor Mercurij.
In a rage, Mercury shall overrun its orbit.
Exibit Jupiter semitas licitas,
et Venus deseret statutas lineas.
Jupiter shall forsake his lawful paths,
and Venus shall desert her appointed line.
Saturni sideris livido corruet,
et falce recurva mortales perimet.
The malice of the planet Saturn shall subside,
and it shall kill mortals with a curved sickle.
Bissenus numerus domorom syderum
deflebit hospites ita transcurrere.
The twelve houses of the stars
shall weep to see the transgressions of their soldiers.
Omittent Gemini complexus solitos,
et urnam in fontes provocabunt.
Gemini shall forego their usual embraces,
and shall dispatch the urn to the fountains.
Pensa Librae obliquae pendebunt,
donec Aries recurva cornua sua supponat.
The scales of Libra shall hang obliquely,
until Aries shall support them with his curved horns.
Cauda Scorpionis procreabit fulgura,
et Cancer cum Sole litigabit.
The tail of Scorpio shall produce lightning,
and Cancer shall quarrel with the Sun.
Ascendet Virgo dorsum Sagittarij,
et flores virgineos obfuscabit.
Virgo shall climb the back of Sagittarius.
and hide the flower of her purity.
Currus Lunae turbabit Zodiacum,
et in fletum prorumpent Pleiades.
The chariot of the Moon shall disturb the Zodiac,
and the Pleiades shall break forth into weeping.
In ictu radij exurgent aequora,
et pulvis veterum renovabitur.
The waters of the seas shall rise at the stroke of a wand,
and the dust of the ancients shall be restored.
Confligent venti diro suffiamine,
et sonitum inter sidera conficient.
The winds shall battle together with an awful blast,
and make their cacophony amongst the destroyed constellations.
