- Et recordatus est Petrus
Et recordatus est Petrus
SKU:
Et recordatus est PetrusĀ (And Peter Remembered) tells the story of Peter's Denial from his own, personal perspective. Using text from different verses from the Latin Vulgate Bible, the story is vividly portrayed with emotional and visceral intensity. This setting is exciting, while at the same time moving and thought-provoking.

TEXT
Text from the Latin Vulgate Bible and
Sacred Latin Liturgical texts
Despectum at novissimum virorum
Virum dolorum et scientem infirmitatem
Et quasi absconditus vultus eius et despectus
unde nec reputavimus eum
Despised, and the most abject of men,
A man of sorrows and acquainted with infirmity
And his look was as if it were hidden and despised,
Whereupon we esteemed him not.
Et recordatus est Petrus
Verbi quod dixerat ei Jesu
And Peter remembered
The word that Jesus had said to him.
ait alli Jesu amen dico tibi quia in hac nocte
antequam gallus cantet ter me negabis
Jesus said to him: Amen, I say to thee that in this night
Before the cock crow, thou wilt deny me thrice.
Ait illi Petrus si oportuerit me mori tecum
Non te negabo
Peter saith to Him: Though I should die with thee,
I will not deny Thee.
Es vos vir cum Jesu
Ego sum non vir cum Jesu
Are you the man with Jesus?
I am not the man with Jesus!
Primus secundus tertius
First, second, third (denial)
O Domine libera animam meam
A labiis iniquis et a lingua dolosa
O Lord, deliver my soul
from lying lips and a deceitful tongue.
Despectus absconditus dolosus contemptus
Despised, hidden, deceitful, contempted...
